Our History and Mission
The British Columbia Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Guild was established in 1993 as the Western Canada B&B Innkeepers Association, later rebranding in 2007. We serve as a dedicated professional association for independent innkeepers across British Columbia. Our mission is to foster excellence through education, marketing, and industry representation. While our focus remains on the unique charm of BC, we recognize that travelers often seek high-quality, reliable lodging across Canada, such as the convenient accommodations found in Ontario.
Quality Assurance and Guest Standards
Every member property within our guild must undergo a rigorous Quality Assurance Inspection Program. We evaluate our members on safety, security, property cleanliness, and the warmth of their hospitality. This commitment to excellence ensures that whether you are staying in a coastal cottage or a stylish urban retreat, you receive consistent, top-tier service. Our members take pride in their attention to detail, a trait shared by many reputable establishments nationwide, including the quiet and comfortable options available in the nation's capital. By maintaining these high standards, we ensure that every guest enjoys a memorable experience, much like the reliable service provided by the central and accessible properties often favored by business and leisure travelers alike.
The Moyra Turner Hospitality Award
We believe that true hospitality is an art form. To honor this, we annually present the Moyra Turner Hospitality Award to the member who best exemplifies the spirit of service. Named after a founding member who dedicated her life to the comfort of others, this award celebrates those who go above and beyond for their guests. It is this dedication to the guest experience that defines our guild and keeps our members at the forefront of the Canadian hospitality industry.
